LongMetal Wins at WNEU
Longmetal Robotics recently competed in the First Robotics Competition at Western New England University on March 16-18. Their robot, "More Cowbell," suffered a few setbacks during the competition, but that didn't stop the team from rallying together and working hard to make it competitive.
Despite facing some tough competition, the Longmetal Robotics team maintained a positive attitude and a great sense of humor. They knew that it was all about having fun and learning from the experience, and they did just that. The team put in countless hours of hard work and dedication, constantly tweaking the robot's design and programming to improve its performance.
And all that hard work paid off! Longmetal Robotics was thrilled to win the coveted FIRST Sustainability Award, which recognizes teams that promote sustainable practices and encourage STEM learning in their community. The team's commitment to promoting STEM learning among their peers and in their community was truly inspiring, and it was clear that they were making a real difference.
A special moment came when our very own mentor, Mark Yorns, was officially recognized and nominated for the FIRST Woodie Flowers Award for all of his amazing volunteer work with Team LongMetal.
As for More Cowbell, well, let's just say that it definitely had a few more cowbells added to it by the end of the competition. Despite its setbacks, the robot performed admirably, and the team was proud of what they had accomplished together.
Overall, the Longmetal Robotics team showed that with hard work, dedication, and a great sense of humor, anything is possible. They are a true inspiration to us all, and we can't wait to see what they'll accomplish next!
